The wood ceiling is the organizing feature of Coral Gables. Its deep square coffers extend across the living spaces, above the stair hall, and into the bathroom. Below this grid, broad openings and stone-lined passages connect the rooms. Low seating gathers the living area around a central table, while the kitchen pairs dark, strongly veined stone with a reflective metal-finished island. The design builds its character through these differences in depth, scale, and surface.

Entrance and stair

Broad steps and a solid stone stair give arrival a sense of occasion. The upward movement of the staircase contrasts with the ceiling grid, making the hall's height part of the experience.

Kitchen

The reflective metal-finished island brings light into the darker kitchen. Strongly veined stone provides the backdrop, with slender lighting and simple stools keeping the room focused on its main surfaces.

Bedroom

Wood panelling gives the bed an enveloping backdrop. Lighting concentrated around the bedside brings the scale closer, creating a more intimate setting for rest within the home's substantial architecture.

Bathroom

The ceiling grid continues into the bathroom, connecting it to the rest of the home. Sheer curtains and light around the broad mirror soften the stone surfaces and give the room a more private, restful character.
